Booking an appointment for organised screening for familial hypercholesterolaemia
Last update
Summary:
As part of the pilot project for organised screening for familial hypercholesterolaemia, invitations are sent by the Health Directorate (Direction de la santé) to families with a child aged 18 months. Non-resident families are not automatically invited. However, they may request an invitation to have their child tested.
Appointments and invitation requests can be made via MyGuichet.lu.
The Health Directorate is organising a screening for familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH).
Early detection of this disease allows for rapid treatment, thereby preventing the onset of related cardiovascular diseases (heart attack, stroke, etc.). This is why it is important to screen children early on.
As part of this pilot project for organised screening for hypercholesterolaemia:
- resident families who have a child aged 18 months will automatically receive an invitation;
- non-resident families may apply for an invitation in order to have their 18-month-old child take part in the screening.
Appointments for the screening can be made online via MyGuichet.lu.
Appointments can only be made via MyGuichet.lu. Unfortunately, it is not possible to make an appointment by contacting the secretariat of the medical centres.
If you have any questions about the screening, please send an email to depistage.hf@ms.etat.lu.
Who is concerned
The invitation is sent (either automatically or upon request) to any legal representative of a child:
- aged 18 months who is affiliated with the Luxembourg social security system;
- who has a 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (Matricule); and
- whether they are resident in Luxembourg or not.
Prerequisites
Invitation
To participate in familial hypercholesterolaemia screening, you must first receive an invitation by post (either automatically or upon request).
The invitation contains a login code (known as an OTP code), which corresponds to the 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (Matricule) of your child aged 18 months.
You need this OTP to make an appointment via MyGuichet.lu.
Deadlines
The OTP code on the invitation letter is valid for 4 months. Once the 4 months have elapsed (after receiving the invitation), you will no longer be able to make an appointment.
In other terms, you will no longer be able to make an appointment via MyGuichet.lu. However, you still have the possibility to ask your physician to prescribe a lipid profile test.
Costs
The screening is free of charge.

- Non-residents
You must book an appointment for your child via MyGuichet.lu. You can choose between the procedure:

To book an appointment with authentication, you must first create a private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu.

As a non-resident, you are not automatically invited by the Health Directorate. However, you can apply for an invitation via MyGuichet.lu. This is a procedure without authentication.
As soon as you have submitted your procedure, you will receive an email confirming your participation with a personal login code. This will allow you to make an appointment for your child by following the same procedure as residents.
Appointment confirmation
As soon as you have submitted your request for an appointment, you will receive a confirmation:
- in the 'My messages' section of your private eSpace if you booked your appointment using authentication (or if it was directly booked using the mobile app); or
- by email if the appointment was booked without authentication.
If your child is not eligible for this screening, your procedure cannot be completed and an error message will be displayed.
Cancellation of the appointment
By the legal representative
You can modify or cancel your appointment on MyGuichet.lu:
- until the day of the appointment; and/or
- for as long as the OTP code provided in the invitation is valid.
If you selected the procedure with authentication, you can cancel the appointment by clicking on 'Cancel this appointment' in:
- the 'My appointments' section of your private eSpace; or
- the 'Appointments' tab of your transmitted procedure, under 'My procedures'.
If you selected the procedure without authentication, you can cancel the appointment by clicking on the link in the appointment confirmation.

Please note: this new appointment must be made during the validity period of the OTP code received in the invitation. After this deadline, it will no longer be possible to book an appointment and your child will not be able to participate in the screening.
