Booking an appointment for organised screening for familial hypercholesterolemia
Last update
The Health Directorate is organising a screening for familial hypercholesterolemia (FH).
Early detection of this disease allows for rapid treatment, thereby preventing the onset of related cardiovascular diseases (heart attack, stroke, etc.). This is why it is important to screen children early on.
As part of this pilot project for organised screening for hypercholesterolemia, invitations are sent to families with a child aged 18 months.
Appointments for the screening can be made online via MyGuichet.lu.
Who is concerned
The invitation is addressed to any legal representative of a child that:
- is 18 months old;
- has a 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (Matricule); and
- lives in Luxembourg.
Prerequisites
Invitation
To participate in screening for familial hypercholesterolemia, you must first receive an invitation by post.
The invitation contains a login code (known as an OTP code), which corresponds to the 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (Matricule) of your child aged 18 months.
Private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu
To book an appointment and participate in the screening, you must have a private eSpace (i.e. an account) on MyGuichet.lu.
Deadlines
The OTP code on the invitation letter is valid for 4 months. Once the 4 months have elapsed (after receiving the invitation), you will no longer be able to make an appointment.
Costs
The screening is free of charge.

Booking an appointment for screening for familial hypercholesterolemia
You must book an appointment for your child via MyGuichet.lu. This is a procedure that requires authentication. You therefore need your own authentication product, i.e.:

- a Luxembourg electronic identity card (eID); or
- an eIDAS device from another European country.
In order to book an appointment, you must:
- fill in the form and state: your full name and that of your child, and your email address;

- the place of the appointment from the 3 proposed options:
Once you have submitted the procedure, you will receive confirmation:
- via a message in your private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu;
- by email.
If your child is not eligible for this screening, your procedure cannot be completed and an error message will be displayed.
Cancellation of the appointment
By the legal representative
You can modify or cancel your appointment on MyGuichet.lu:
- up to 24 hours before the appointment date; and/or
- for as long as the OTP code provided in the invitation is valid.
By the medical staff
If the medical staff responsible for carrying out the screening is unavailable, you will receive:
- a message in your private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu informing you that your appointment has been cancelled; and
- an email informing you that your appointment has been cancelled and asking you to make a new appointment via MyGuichet.lu.
Please note: this new appointment must be made during the validity period of the OTP code received in the invitation. After this deadline, it will no longer be possible to book an appointment and your child will not be able to participate in the screening.

On the day of the appointment, please take your child (who is to be screened) to the medical centre of your choice for the screening.
The healthcare professional in charge of screening will answer any questions you may have about this screening.

Transmission of results
You will receive the results verbally and in writing on the day of the screening.
The healthcare staff will refer you to the appropriate care solution based on the screening results.
