Activating your eSanté account in order to access your Electronic Healthcare Record (DSP)

Last update

Summary:

In order to access your Electronic Healthcare Record (Dossier de Soins Partagé - DSP), you must first activate your eSanté account. You can do this via your private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu or by using the eSanté portal if you do not have a LuxTrust product.

The DSP is a personal and secure electronic healthcare record over which the patient has direct control. The DSP:

  • is provided free of charge by the eSanté Agency;
  • stores a patient's essential medical information in one place.

The main aim of the DSP is to:

  • promote dialogue between the healthcare professionals involved in the patient's medical care;
  • allow for better coordinated care.

The eSanté Agency automatically creates a DSP for a patient when they register with social security. To be able to access and manage it, the patient must activate their eSanté account.

Who is concerned

Anyone, regardless of age, may activate their eSanté account and subsequently access their DSP if they:

  • are or are not registered with Luxembourg's social security system; and
  • have a DSP.

Information contained in the DSP

The DSP contains medical information including:

  • medical laboratory test reports;
  • medical imaging reports;
  • hospital discharge letters;
  • medical treatment reports;
  • information or declarations provided by the patient.

The DSP may only be accessed:

  • by the patient to whom it relates and the patient's legal representatives;
  • by the referring doctor;
  • with the patient's consent:
    • by the patient's general practitioner;
    • by other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care.

Advantages of the DSP

The DSP:

  • contains all your essential medical information in one place so you don't have to remember it all;
  • makes it easier for healthcare professional to share information and to access it directly, with your consent;
  • gives professionals involved in your care direct access to your essential medical information in case of emergency;
  • enables you:
    • to register relevant information for the purposes of your medical care;
    • to express your wishes with regard to organ donation.

Your DSP is not a replacement for the medical file that you healthcare professional uses.

Prerequisites

Conditions applicable to persons affiliated or not affiliated to Luxembourg's social security system

The eSanté Agency automatically creates a DSP for everyone who is registered with social security in Luxembourg. To access and manage it, all you need to do is activate your eSanté account.

To do this via MyGuichet.lu, you will need:

  • a 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (Matricule); and
  • a LuxTrust product.

You cannot use a Luxembourg electronic ID card (eID) or an eIDAS-compliant means of authentication from another European country to activate your eSanté account.

If you are not registered for social security but receive medical care from a healthcare professional practising in Luxembourg you may request that a DSP be created.

To do so, please complete the online request form available on the eSanté portal.

Please also attach:

  • a copy of your identity card;
  • and additionally for minors:
    • a copy of the minor's identity card;
    • a copy of a document confirming that you are the minor's legal representative: divorce decree, guardianship order/judgment, etc.

A legal representative of a minor may request that a DSP be opened for that child.

Setting up a private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu.

To access your DSP through MyGuichet.lu, you must first set up or already have set up a private eSpace.

How to create a private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu

A tutorial is available to help you set up a private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu if you do not already have one.

How to proceed

Preliminary information

As soon as your DSP has been created, the eSanté Agency will inform you:

  • that a DSP has been created and tell you what it contains;
  • how to activate and close the DSP;
  • how the DSP works;
  • your rights: objecting to data sharing, accessing the DSP, etc.

Activating your eSanté account

To access your DSP, you must first activate your eSanté account in your private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu by using a LuxTrust product for authentication.

To access your DSP via your eSpace on MyGuichet.lu, you do not need to have it activated in advance using the code that the eSanté Agency sends by post. Even if you no longer have the code, you can carry out the activation via MyGuichet.lu.

If you do not have a LuxTrust product, you can still activate your eSanté account via the eSanté portal.

Applying to open a DSP for a minor

If your request relates to a minor, please complete the online request form available on the eSanté portal.

Accessing your DSP

After activating your eSanté account, you will be able to access your DSP:

  • through your private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu;
  • from the eSanté portal;
  • using the MyDSP mobile app.

To access your (minor) child's DSP via your own DSP, you must:

  • first activate their account via the eSanté portal; and
  • then add your own details as the 'Assistant DSP' in your child's DSP.
