Maintenance of walking trails: statement of annual expenses (tourist information offices)

This subsidy is aimed at tourist information offices for maintenance work carried out on walking trails for the purpose of keeping them accessible and usable. The following work is concerned:

  • cleaning;
  • mowing grass, pruning branches;
  • the replacement of marker posts and signs;
  • the repair of benches and picnic tables;
  • the emptying of bins at trailheads.

Therefore, eligible costs are those relating to:

  • the purchase of small items of equipment and tools required for maintenance work, such as screws, brushes, solvents, paint, etc.;
  • the purchase of fuel to run maintenance equipment (leaf blowers, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, etc.);
  • the repair and servicing of tools required for trail maintenance.

Please note: the hours worked by volunteer workers at the tourist office or the services provided by external companies to ensure trail maintenance are also taken into account when calculating the subsidy.

Who is concerned

Only tourist information offices actively promoting tourism can benefit from the subsidy.

Deadlines

The application must be submitted:

  • after the completion of the works, together with the required supporting documents; and
  • at the latest by 30 November of the year for which the subsidy is requested.

How to proceed

Submitting the application

You must submit a duly completed aid application using the form provided for this purpose to the General Directorate for Tourism.

Supporting documents

Applications must be accompanied by:

  • copies of invoices;
  • proof of payment of said invoices;

Amount of aid

The subsidy comes in the form of a financial aid paid to the beneficiary.

The amount of aid is determined by the General Directorate for Tourism depending on:

  • the type and volume of work carried out by the tourist information office;
  • the available budget.

Payment

The subsidy is awarded as soon as possible after receiving the application, in the form of a direct payment of public financial aid to the beneficiary.
