Persons with no authentication device (e.g. a LuxTrust product) or no 13-digit national identification number (Matricule) can book an appointment without using authentication (i.e. without logging in to MyGuichet.lu).

Who is concerned

Anyone who wants to:

  • apply for or collect their identity card or driving licence at the Guichet.lu reception desk;
  • obtain information or help with administrative procedures or learn how to use MyGuichet.lu.

If you wish to use the computers with internet access made available in the reception area for your administrative procedures, you do not need to book an appointment.

If you require information but you cannot come in person, you can still interact with one of our support agents. To do this, you can book an appointment for a video conference call with the Guichet.lu Helpdesk.

Prerequisites

If you wish to make an appointment at the Guichet.lu reception desk to apply for an identity card or driving licence, please first consult the application procedures for the document in question. This way, you ensure that:

  • the requirements of your application are met; and
  • you have all the supporting documents you need for your appointment.

Deadlines

You can book an appointment up to 2 months ahead, or on the same day (subject to availability).

When you book your appointment to collect your identity card or driving licence, this does not mean that your document will be ready at that date (i.e. booking an early appointment does not mean that the document will be ready earlier). Please take into account the time required for issuing the document when booking your appointment.

Costs

Booking appointments is free of charge, however, applications for an identity card or a driving licence are subject to a fee.

How to proceed

Booking the appointment

You can book an appointment with the Guichet.lu reception desk online via MyGuichet.lu (see 'Online services and forms' below). The Guichet.lu reception desk is located at rue Notre-Dame in Luxembourg city,

The online booking system is currently only available in French.

You can book the appointment using authentication via your private eSpace on MyGuichet.lu. Persons with no authentication device (e.g. a LuxTrust product) can book their appointment without authentication.

If you need help to book an appointment via MyGuichet.lu, you can contact the Guichet.lu Helpdesk by telephone at (+352) 247 82 000, on working days between 8.00 and 18.00.

Appointment time slots

Appointments are possible on working days from 8.00 in the morning. The last appointment of the day and the duration of the appointment depend on the reason for the appointment. Whatever the reason may be, the last appointment will end at 17.00 at the latest.

During the same opening hours, you can also visit the Guichet.lu reception desk without having booked an appointment in advance.

Confirmation of appointment

If your request for an appointment is granted, you will receive an appointment confirmation:

  • as a message in your private eSpace provided you booked your appointment using authentication;
  • as an attachment to an email sent to the email address you indicated at the time you booked your appointment.

You must present the appointment confirmation on the day of your appointment (whether printed on paper or in electronic format, e.g. on your smartphone).

Cancellation of the appointment

If an unexpected event prevents you from attending your appointment, you can cancel the appointment at any time.

If you show up late for your appointment, you may have to wait your turn in order to ensure the smooth operation of all other scheduled appointments on that day.

It is not possible to reschedule your appointment on site. If you cannot attend, you must cancel your appointment and book a new one.

The cancellation link can be found in the message and in the attached document in your private eSpace.

You can also cancel the appointment by clicking on 'Cancel this appointment' in:

  • the 'My appointments' section of your private eSpace;
  • the 'Appointments' tab of your transmitted procedure, under 'My procedures'.

To cancel an appointment via the MyGuichet.lu mobile application on your smartphone, you must first tap the 3 dots and then 'Cancel this appointment'.

You can cancel the appointment yourself. The cancellation link can be found in the email and the attachment sent to the email address you indicated at the time of booking your appointment.
