Requesting a reissue of identity card (eID) PIN and PUK codes by phone

Last update

If necessary, any citizen may request by phone a reprint of the letter containing the PIN and PUK codes of their identity card (eID).

Who is concerned?

Such reprints may be requested by any citizen who holds a Luxembourg identity card, whether they are resident or non-resident.

How to proceed

Citizens who wish to receive a new letter with the PIN and PUK codes for their identity card can call the Guichet.lu Helpdesk at (+352) 247-82 000, from Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 18.00.

A Helpdesk agent will respond to the request and collect the information required for the procedure.

Once the personal data has been collected and verified, a new letter containing the initial PIN and PUK codes will be printed and sent to the citizen at their residential address.

If the request is incomplete, or if there are any doubts about the citizen's identity, the citizen must go to the Guichet.lu reception desk to submit their request in person and have their identity verified face to face.

If the person who needs the codes to be re-sent is a minor, the request to reprint the PIN and PUK codes must be made by:

  • one of their parents exercising parental authority; or
  • their guardian.
