Application for recognition of a foreign licence or certificate
Last update
Holders of foreign boat licences may apply to have their licence endorsed. Endorsement allows licence holders to operate a vessel flying the Luxembourg flag within the limits prescribed by the endorsed foreign licence.
Endorsements are valid indefinitely.
Costs
A fee of EUR 36 is charged for the endorsement of a foreign licence or certificate. The fee can be paid by purchasing a transferable tax stamp from the Registration Duties, Estates and VAT Authority (Administration de l'enregistrement, des domaines et de la TVA - AED).
Instead of a tax stamp, applicants can also pay by making a wire transfer to the account no. LU76 0019 5955 4404 7000 (BIC: BCEELULL) of the 'Direction de l'Enregistrement et des Domaines, Diekirch Actes Civils' specifying the applicant's name, followed by 'Demande reconnaissance permis étranger' (foreign licence recognition application).
In this case, proof of the completed bank transfer should be sent along with the application.
How to proceed
Applications for endorsements are to be submitted to the Luxembourg Maritime Administration (Commissariat aux affaires maritimes - CAM) using the official application form.
In support of the application, applicants should include:
- a double-sided copy of the foreign licence or certificate (a certified copy for a document from a non-EU country).
