Online declaration of loss

Last update

You can inform the Police online of the loss of one or more personal belongings.

The declaration must be submitted online via MyGuichet.lu.

You can, however, always go to the police station to report the loss in person.

Who is concerned

Any person who has lost one or more objects may inform the Police.

Prerequisites

The lost item cannot be a weapon. Should this be the case, you must contact the Police via the emergency number 113 or a police station of your choice.

This procedure can only be used for actual events. Any misuse is punishable by law.

Deadlines

Any loss of belongings must be reported as quickly as possible.

How to proceed

Declaration

You can report the loss via MyGuichet.lu.

The following information must be indicated:

  • personal contact data;
  • the circumstances of the loss (place, date);
  • the list of lost objects:
    • object category (still/video camera, jewellery, ID document, computer equipment, wallet/bill-fold, etc.);
    • description of the object (brand, value, etc.).

Even if the reports submitted online are received and processed by a special police station, you must indicate a police station of your choosing in the event you are invited to come in person.

Attachments

It is possible to attach one or more pictures or proof of purchase of the lost item(s). This will simplify the investigator's task. These documents can be attached to the report at the end of the data entry process.

At the end of the procedure, you will be sent an official declaration of loss in electronic format. However, this declaration of loss cannot be used as an official certificate for insurance purposes.

Following your declarations, the Police will draw up an official record. The record will be submitted to the Prosecutor's office who will send you a copy of the document. Only this document can be submitted to the insurance.
