Online declaration of found objects
Last update
You can inform the Police online if you have found one or more objects whose owner is unknown.
The declaration must be submitted online via MyGuichet.lu.
The person who found these objects must then go to the police station of his choice to hand them over in person.
It is always possible to report found objects directly at a police station.
Who is concerned
Anyone who finds an object that does not belong to him must inform the Police.
Prerequisites
The found item cannot be a weapon. Should this be the case, the person concerned must contact the Police via the emergency number 113 or the police station of their choice.
Deadlines
Any person who has found an object is requested to report it as soon as possible.
How to proceed
Declaration
The person concerned can declare found objects via MyGuichet.lu.
The following information must be provided:
- their personal data;
- the circumstances of the finding (place, date);
- the list of found objects:
- object category (still/video camera, jewellery, ID document, computer equipment, wallet/bill-fold, etc.);
- description of the object.
Even if the reports submitted online are received and processed by a special police station, the finder is asked to communicate a police station of his choice.
Handing over the object
The found object is handed over in person to the officer at the designated police station. The person concerned must contact this police station to arrange an appointment to deposit the found item(s).
A receipt will be given to him after the handing in of the objects.
The person concerned can agree to have his contact details transmitted to the owner, if he is identified.
Waiver
If the owner of the object is not found, the finder may waive the return of the object(s). This must be indicated in the online declaration.
In the case of a waiver, the Police will initiate a special procedure for the item's destruction or its sale at a public auction.
Otherwise, the person who found the object will get it back.
