Online declaration of damage caused by a vehicle
Last update
Material damage caused by a vehicle to property must be declared to the Police.
The declaration must be submitted online via MyGuichet.lu.
It is always possible to go to the police station in order to report the damage in person.
Who is concerned
Anyone who has caused damage to an object while using a vehicle must report the damage to the Police.
Prerequisites
The damage must have been caused by a vehicle to another object (other vehicles, any object or equipment on public roads, etc.).
Only accidents causing material damage are subject to the declaration. Accidents causing injuries to persons are not concerned.
How to proceed
Declaration
After having contacted the police, the holder of the vehicle can declare the damages caused by their vehicle via MyGuichet.lu.
The declaration must include the following information:
- personal contact data;
- the vehicle in question (registration number, make, model, etc.);
- the place of the accident;
- the description of the damage.
Even if the reports submitted online are received and processed by a specific police station, the complainant is requested to indicate the police station of their choice, in case they may be requested to go there in person.
Attachments
It is possible to attach one or more photos documenting the material damage. This will simplify the investigator's task. These documents can be attached to the report at the end of the data entry process.
Copy of the declaration
A copy of the declaration will be sent by electronic means at the end of the process.
Please note, the copy is not an official record. It is only a confirmation of your declaration.
