Application for renewal of the residence permit
In order to renew a residence permit, recipients of international protection must apply to the General Department of immigration of the Ministry of Home Affairs within 2 months prior to the expiry date of the residence permit.
The application for renewal must be filed using a specific form and must be accompanied by the following documents:
- a copy of their valid passport, in its entirety;
- a certificate of affiliation to the Luxembourg Joint Social Security Centre including all the salaried worker's affiliations to date;
- a recent extract from the criminal record in Luxembourg.
To apply for a renewal of their travel document, holders of a refugee travel document must go in person to the General Department of immigration with their old travel document.
This free renewal must be requested 2 months before the expiry of the travel document.
Application for replacement of the residence permit
The application for replacement must be filed using a specific form and must be accompanied by the following documents:
- a copy of the valid passport or valid travel document for refugees or valid travel document for foreign nationals, in their entirety;
- the declaration of theft/loss established by the police, or the damaged document.
