To do so, you must first:

  1. scan your identity document in PDF format;
  2. connect to the LuxTrust online service with your LuxTrust product ;
  3. electronically sign your PDF document (identity document) using the online service COSI Home Edition

Costs

The application for a national identification number is free of charge.

How to proceed

Filing an application

Applications must be submitted online via MyGuichet.lu. This is a procedure without authentication, i.e. it does not require a private or business eSpace on MyGuichet.lu.

In particular, you must provide the following information:

  • your last name(s) and first name(s);
  • your date and place of birth;
  • your postal and email addresses;
  • your nationality;
  • your marital status;
  • the reason(s) for your request for a national identification number.

You will receive an email notification:

  • after having submitted your application;
  • whenever there is a change in your application's status.

If you do not receive an email after having submitted your application, you should check that it is not in your email spam folder (junk email).

In the event of a technical problem, you can contact:

  • the Guichet.lu Helpdesk for assistance on how to use MyGuichet.lu;
  • LuxTrust for all questions regarding LuxTrust certificates.

Supporting documents

You must also enclose with your application:

  • a copy of your valid identity document (passport or identity card) signed electronically with your LuxTrust certificate (see the 'Prerequisites' section);
  • a residence certificate issued within the past 6 months;
  • proof of the professional reasons given (e.g.: ministerial decree approving the maritime company, K-Bis/RCS extract, etc.).

Processing the application

During the processing of your application, you may be asked to provide additional supporting documents via MyGuichet.lu.

If your application is approved, the RNPP staff will update your details in the registry and you will be allocated a national identification number.

You will be informed by post: an extract of your details registered in the RNPP will be sent to you automatically within 2 weeks of your details being updated.

Note: the number is allocated to the natural person and not to a company.
