Making an appointment online at the Passport Office to apply for and collect a passport

Last update

In order to allow citizens to apply for and collect their passports securely from the Passport, Visa and Legalisation Office, it is possible to make an appointment online via MyGuichet.lu.

Who is concerned

Any resident or non-resident who wishes to apply for or collect their passport from the Passport, Visa and Legalisation Office.

Costs

Booking an appointment online is free of charge.

Please note: passport applications are subject to a charge.

How to proceed

Submitting the application

The applicant must make an appointment online via MyGuichet.lu. This can be done without using LuxTrust authentication.

Applicants must first accept the processing of their personal data for the purpose of booking an appointment by checking the relevant box.

The applicant must then indicate their contact details:

  • first and last names;
  • if available, their 13-digit Luxembourg identification number (matricule), otherwise, their date of birth;
  • email address and phone number;
  • address and country of residence.

The applicant must indicate the reason for their application, i.e.:

  • passport application; or
  • pickup of a passport.

Applicants must also indicate whether other people are concerned by the appointment and if so:

  • the number of persons;
  • if they are minors;
  • the contact details of all persons present.

All persons must be present at the appointment.

The applicant then selects the date and time of the appointment from the proposed time slots. It is not possible to make an appointment:

  • for the same day;
  • more than one month in advance.

The applicant must validate their choice by clicking on "Next step".

Please note: the time limit for issuing the passport according to the standard procedure is in principle 7 working days, and 3 working days in the case of a fast-track procedure (the time limit is to be calculated from the day after the passport application). The applicant must take these deadlines into account when making an appointment.

Supporting documents

During the appointment, the applicant is required to present the following supporting documents:

  • passport application:
    • non-residents: certificate of recent residence of less than 3 months;
    • non-residents who are minors: certificate of household composition less than 3 months old;
  • pickup of a passport:
    • valid identity document for each person present at the appointment;
    • the receipt;
    • old passport(s) (if any).

Please note: only the persons mentioned on the receipt are authorised to collect the passport.

In addition, and depending on the request, the applicant must bring other documents to the appointment. The applicant can easily find the required supporting documents by consulting the explanatory text concerning the application and collection of a passport for residents or non-residents.

The administration's response

After validating the appointment request, the applicant receives an appointment confirmation by email.

This document indicates:

  • the date and time of the appointment;
  • the contact details of the applicant;
  • the appointment reference number and the number of person(s) concerned by the appointment.

Obligations

The applicant certifies:

  • that the data provided is correct and truthful;
  • that they do not have other appointments scheduled for the same type of request.

Cancellation of an appointment

Appointment cancellations can be made online using MyGuichet.lu.

To cancel an appointment online, the applicant must indicate:

  • the appointment reference number;
  • their contact details: the same as those indicated when making the appointment (surname, first name, address, etc.).
