Applying for leave as a member of the national representation of pupils' parents

The parents of primary- and secondary-school children – including children in differentiated learning environments – are represented by national representation of pupils' parents.
National representation of pupils' parents members are elected for a renewable term of 3 years.
The 12 national representation of pupils' parents members are entitled to special leave of 8 days or 64 hours per year to fulfil their parents' council duties.
For representatives who work part time, the number of hours/days of leave is calculated with respect to their actual working time.
Who is concerned
The 12 parents (or legal guardians) of schoolchildren, elected as national representation of pupils' parents members.
If a representative's child/children leave(s) school in the course of the school year, their mandate as representative will expire at the end of that school year.
Deadlines
Representatives must seek their employer's approval of their leave days for the entire year at the beginning of the year.
Employers must apply for reimbursement of the leave days taken by their employees once a year.
Applications for compensation for self-employed workers must be submitted at the end of the year using the relevant form.
How to proceed
Filing an application
Representatives must seek their employer's approval of their leave days at the beginning of the year using the relevant form.
Representatives may take their leave whenever they feel it is most appropriate to do so, after having consulted their employer.
The form must be signed by the employer and returned to the SCRIPT.

Compensation for leave beneficiaries
Beneficiaries of this form of leave may be absent from their workplace and still continue to be paid, as long their absence falls within the framework of their special leave.
National representation of pupils' parents members attending meetings while on representation leave are covered by special forms of accident insurance.
Compensation for employers
Once the representative has taken their leave, the employer can apply for reimbursement using the relevant application form.
Applications for reimbursement must be submitted once a year, for all leave days taken. The state will reimburse to the employer the amount of the compensation, plus the employer's share of social contributions, up to 4 times the social minimum wage for unskilled workers.
Compensation for self-employed workers
Representatives who are self-employed are entitled to compensation.
The amount of the compensation is calculated on the basis of the income used to determine the assessment base for pension insurance contributions in the previous year, and is capped at 4 times the social minimum wage for unskilled workers.
The compensation is paid directly to beneficiaries by the state.
