Digitalisation aid - Fit 4 Digital

The Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts and the Chamber of Commerce can provide support to businesses in order to guide and help them take a step towards digital transformation. Their support includes:

  • raising awareness and providing information;
  • a business diagnostic and the subsequent formulation of recommendations;
  • assistance with the implementation of the suggested IT solutions.

With regard to the diagnostic phase followed by the implementation phase, the Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts rely on the services offered by "Fit 4 Digital", a service developed by Luxinnovation, in order to help SMEs benefit from the advantages of digital technologies.

During the digitalisation process, businesses may benefit from different types of financial aid granted by the Ministry of the Economy.

Who is concerned

The digitalisation programme for SMEs is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who carry out their activities in the fields of commerce, industry, crafts or the horeca sector and who hold a business permit from the General Directorate for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.

How to proceed

Filing an application

SMEs wishing to commence or develop their digitization process should contact the competent services at the professional chamber with whom they are registered. This may be:

These 2 services aim to raise the awareness of businesses, to inform and guide them with respect to the challenges of digitalisation and digital transition.

Businesses concerned must file an application in order to benefit from the "Fit for Digital" programme by submitting an online application on the website of Luxinnovation.

They then have to choose a consultant from Luxinnovation's "Fit 4 Digital" programme who will analyse their use of information and communications technologies (ICT) by their different departments (human resources, purchasing, accounting, etc.). The consultant will assess the business's digital maturity and their potential of improvement with regard to the use of ICT.

In the end of the business diagnostic, the consultant approved by Luxinnovation will formulate recommendations for the implementation of IT tools. The concrete benefits and added value for each business are the determining elements for each support measure proposed.

Subsequently, the business can begin with the implementation phase of the recommendations received on the organisational level and also with respect to equipment and materials required.

Amount of aid

Within the framework of "Fit 4 Digital", the Ministry of the Economy covers all expenses related to the business diagnostic provided by the approved consultant up to a maximum amount of EUR 5,000 excl. VAT.

The consultant must be approved by Luxinnovation (see the list of approved consultants).

As soon as the application for the "Fit for Digital" programme is accepted, the Ministry of the Economy will send a "voucher/Chèques-services entreprise" to the applicant that will cover the diagnostic expenses up to the amount of EUR 5,000 excl. VAT, without any other formality required.

Businesses who decide to implement the measures proposed in the consultant's business diagnostic may also benefit from the SME aid scheme in order to:

  • cover the cost of consultancy services provided by external specialists; or
  • benefit from investment aid for SMEs in the case of investments in equipment and software;
  • cover investments in relation to the Fit 4 Digital project (equipment, software) with the investment aid scheme for SMEs.

If the business's staff concerned by the digitalisation process is initiated or trained in the new IT tools during the implementation phase, the business may also benefit from aid for continuing vocational training.
