Benelux Office for Intellectual Property
The Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) is the official body for the registration of trademarks and designs in the Benelux. BOIP is part of the Benelux Organisation for Intellectual Property, an international organisation placed under the control of its Management Board. Representatives of the three Benelux countries sit in this Board.
The missions of BOIP are:
- to implement the treaty and the implementing regulations;
- to promote the protection of trademarks and drawings/designs in the Benelux countries;
- to carry out additional tasks in other areas of intellectual property rights, as instructed by the Management Board;
- to continuously evaluate and, if necessary, amend the Benelux laws on trademarks and drawings/designs, in the light of international, Community and other developments.
