Joining the National Library of Luxembourg (BnL)

Last update

The National Library of Luxembourg (BnL) collects, catalogues and preserves all printed and digital publications published:

  • in Luxembourg; and
  • abroad in connection with the Grand Duchy.

As a scientific and research library, it has an encyclopaedic vocation: 3/4 of its printed resources come from abroad and cover different fields of knowledge.

In addition to numerous paper publications, the BnL offers an ever-increasing number of digital documents: digital journals and books, databases, digitised Luxembourg publications, born-digital documents and Luxembourg websites.

Joining the BnL allows access to all resources (paper and online) and is necessary to benefit from all their services (reservations, loans, room rental, access to digital documents).

Registration and its renewal can be done via MyGuichet.lu.

Who is concerned

Anyone aged 14 or over can join the BnL.

However, home loans and access to digital resources are reserved for residents of Luxembourg or neighbouring regions.

Costs

In case of loss of a library card, a new card can be issued against a fee of EUR 5.
