Applying for a 3-day hunting permit (guest permit)
Hunting in Luxembourg is subject to obtaining a permit beforehand. The guest permit allows non-residents to hunt for 3 days on Luxembourg territory, on the hunting lots where they have been invited by the holders of hunting rights.
A hunting permit is always personal. They may not be lent or leased to others.
Who is concerned
All non-resident persons must hold a guest permit.
The Nature and Forest Agency (Administration de la nature et des forêts) can issue a guest permit to persons:
- who reside abroad;
- who hold a valid annual hunting permit in their country of residence.
Costs

A guest permit costs EUR 50.
Applicants who wish to pay by wire transfer must:
- make a single wire transfer or payment per applicant;
- clearly indicate the name and address of the applicant;
- indicate the following communication: the surname and first name(s) of the applicant for a guest permit.
For international wire transfers, the necessary measures must be taken so that the net amount of EUR 50 is received by the Registration Duties, Estates and VAT Authority (Administration de l'enregistrement, des domaines et de la TVA - AED).

Issuance of vouchers for the stamp
The voucher in question is either:
- sent to the applicant by the Registration Duties, Estates and VAT Authority upon receipt of the wire transfer; or
- issued on the spot at time of payment in in cash.
Hunting permits will not be issued by the Nature and Forest Agency upon presentation of a copy of the wire transfer. Only vouchers issued by the Registration Duties, Estates and VAT Authority are accepted.
How to proceed
The Nature and Forest Agency can issue a guest permit upon written request from a non-resident person.
The request must be made 15 days prior to the date of the invitation.
Supporting documents
The guest permit is issued upon presentation of:
- a voucher for the 3-day hunting permit which can be obtained from the Registration Duties, Estates and VAT Authority;
- a copy of the guest's valid hunting permit;
- proof of insurance confirming that the guest is covered by a Luxembourg civil liability hunting insurance for the duration of the 3-day hunting permit's validity in Luxembourg.
It should be noted that the documents provided must be legible and understandable, in particular with respect to document quality and the written language used.
Validity period
The guest permit is valid for 3 consecutive days on hunting lots where the applicant has been invited by the hunting rights holders.
The validity period of the guest permit is indicated on the back of the document.
In a given hunting season, the maximum duration of the guest permits issued to a particular person residing abroad may not exceed 12 days.
For a single hunting lot, no more than 10 guest permits may be issued per hunting season.
