Notification of termination of the activity of a classified establishment

As the operator of an establishment rated class 1, 1A, 1B, 3, 3A or 3B, you must notify the competent authority or authorities before the definitive end of the establishment's activity, in accordance with article 13 of the amended law of 10 June 1999 relating to classified establishments
When the classified establishment is subject to this obligation, a notification of termination of activity must be submitted.
Who is concerned
Class 1, 1A, 1B, 3, 3A and 3B classified establishments included in the current applicable nomenclature of classified establishments.
This procedure does not apply to class 4 classified establishments. Specific rules are provided for these establishments in the terms of the relevant Grand-Ducal regulations.

How to proceed
As the operator of one of the classified establishments concerned, you must notify the competent administration of its definitive cessation of activities. According to the class of the establishment that has ceased its activities, the notification must be addressed either to the Environment Agency (Administration de l’environnement) or to the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (Inspection du travail et des mines).
The notification of termination must be sent before the activities cease.
Class 1, 1B, 3 and 3B classified establishments
You must send the notification of termination of activity form (see 'Online services and forms'), by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt to the following address:

For notifications of termination of activity that concern class 1 and 3 classified establishments, the Environment Agency sends a copy of the notification form to the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines.
Class 1A and 3A classified establishments
You must send the notification of termination of activity form (see 'Online services and forms'), by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt to the following address:

Nomenclature number
On the notification of termination of activity form, you must give the full nomenclature number of the classified establishment that has ceased its activities, which comprises:
- the base number consisting of 6 digits and which is included in the 'No.' column; and
- if it exists, the numbering included in the column named 'Libellé de l'établissement ou du projet' (Description of the establishment or project).

In the previous example, the full number to be provided in a notification of termination of activity would therefore be 040201 01 01 (class 3), 040201 01 02 01 (class 2), 040201 01 02 02 (class 1) or 040201 02 (class 1), according to the type of transport planned, the location of the establishment and its size.
