Notification of timber harvesting
Last update
Timber harvesting in forests is regulated. In certain cases, a forest owner who decides to harvest timber must give prior notice to the Nature and Forest Agency (Administration de la Nature et des Forêts - ANF).
Before the logging operation is started, you can obtain advice from:
- an ANF official; or
- an expert from Lëtzebuerger Privatbësch.
Who is concerned
All forest owners who decide to harvest timber in excess of 40 m3.
Deadlines
You must send the notification form to the Nature and Forest Agency (ANF) no later than 2 working days before the start of the logging work.
If you request the advice of an ANF official or an expert from Lëtzebuerger Privatbësch, you must send the notification form no later than 10 days before the start of the logging work.
Then, you must send the logging specification form to the ANF no later than 30 days after the logging work has been completed.
How to proceed
Advance notification of timber harvesting
You must notify the Nature and Forest Agency (ANF) of your decision to carry out logging work using the dedicated notification form (see 'Online services and forms').
You can send this form to the ANF:
- either by post to the following address: Administration de la nature et des forêts, 81, avenue de la Gare, L-9233 Diekirch; or
- by email to notification@anf.etat.lu.
Reply from the Nature and Forest Agency
The Nature and Forest Agency registers your notification and sends you a specification form to complete.
Logging specification
You must return the logging specification form to the Nature and Forest Agency (ANF):
- either by post to the following address: Administration de la nature et des forêts, 81, avenue de la Gare, L-9233 Diekirch; or

If necessary, you can download this form under 'Online services and forms'.
In particular, you must specify the species and volumes of wood harvested.
