Survey on continuing vocational training in enterprises
Last update
Between May and November 2026, the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques - STATEC) will conduct the survey on continuing vocational training in enterprises (abbreviated as 'CVTS') for the reference year 2025. This survey is conducted in all EU Member States every 5 years.
The survey focuses primarily on courses (in-house or external), but also covers other types of training, namely:
- guided on-the-job training;
- job rotation training;
- conferences;
- learning or quality circles;
- self-directed learning.
The information collected as part of the survey relates to:
- the types of training courses available;
- the number of participants;
- the number of hours spent on these training courses;
- cost of the training courses;
- the organisation of training activities at company level;
- the training policies implemented;
- barriers to training;
- the assessment of training outcomes.
Together, all this information provides a comparable and harmonised overview of training practices across Europe.
Who is concerned
The survey on continuing vocational training in enterprises:
- is aimed at companies with at least 10 employees, regardless of whether or not they offered training during the reference year; and
- covers all sectors of activity, with the exception of:
- agriculture;
- public administration;
- education;
- healthcare;
- social work.
A representative sample of businesses is selected based on their sector of activity and size.
