Social Security Medical Board (CMSS)

The Social Security Medical Board (Contrôle médical de la sécurité sociale - CMSS) reports to the Minister for Health and Social Security.

It is responsible for assessment, authorisation, advice and control in the cases provided for by the laws, regulations or statutes.

It assesses the state of health of insured persons and provides advice on the basis of medical evidence in connection with the granting of social security benefits by the various social security institutions, in particular:

  • the National Health Fund (Caisse nationale de santé - CNS);
  • the National Pension Insurance Fund (Caisse nationale d’assurance pension - CNAP); and
  • the Accident Insurance Association (Association assurance accident - AAA).
