Directorate of Civil Aviation

The purpose of the Directorate of Civil Aviation (Direction de l'Aviation Civile - DAC) is to:

  • ensure the safety and security of all civil aviation activities in Luxembourg by issuing special rules for this purpose and ensuring that they are complied with by all operators in the civil aviation sector;
  • draft and update civil aviation regulations in accordance with international regulations;
  • manage the aircraft registry;
  • process applications for air transport licences and air transport operator certificates;
  • issue licences, certificates, accreditations, approvals and any other authorisations required by applicable laws or regulations, and monitor compliance with those regulations, without prejudice to the powers of the Minister;
  • ensure maintenance or improvement of the level of safety and security in aeronautics in accordance with national and international legislation and regulations;
  • act as a managing body for the administration and management of airport infrastructures as well as the coordination and control of the activities of the various operators present at an airport;
  • promote, coordinate and oversee the development of civil aviation.
