Sign up for the Grand Ducal Police's 'Going on holiday' service
Last update
The Grand Ducal Police offers a year-round preventative policing service called 'Going on holiday' (Départ en vacances). Any Luxembourg resident who intends to be away from home for an extended period of time may sign up for this service.
You can sign up yourself, or have a third party sign up on your behalf, through MyGuichet.lu.
While you are away, the Police will keep an eye on your property. As part of its general surveillance operations, the police will be carrying out random patrols around your home, in the day or at night, to make sure that everything is in order.
An important feature of the 'Going on holiday' service is the designation of one or more contact persons. The person(s) you name will be the main point(s) of contact for the Police if needed, making communication quicker and more efficient should an emergency arise.
Who is concerned

- resides in Luxembourg; and
