Tests for athletes to receive the national certificate of competence

Last update

The objective of the national sports certificate is to promote the practice of sports in any discipline from the age of 10. The procedure for granting the certificate allows sports enthusiasts, whether they are beginners or experienced, to test their level of fitness through sports performance tests adapted to their age category.

The various tests for the certificate are held once a year. They are divided into 4 disciplines: cycling, athletics, swimming and endurance.

Who is concerned?

The tests to obtain the national sports certificate are open to all sports enthusiasts aged 10 or more, whether or not they are members of a sports club or association.

The tests can be taken by private individuals, licensed sports members, pupils and students in primary or secondary education, members of the Luxembourg Army, etc.

Prerequisites

In order to take part in the tests, applicants must present a medical certificate issued less than 6 months prior to the scheduled test date, attesting to their physical fitness.

The medical certificate is not required for:

  • licensed athletes having completed the sports medical examination;
  • primary and secondary school students;
  • members of the Luxembourgish army.

Costs

Taking the tests for the national sports certificate is free of charge.

Criteria for the certificate

The certificate is awarded if the applicant successfully passes all of the sports performance tests within the same calendar year.

Based on the results of each test, applicants receive a specific number of points in accordance with established assessment guidelines.
