How to obtain the 'Green Business Events' logo

Last update

The 'Green Business Events' logo is issued by the General Directorate for Tourism of the Ministry of the Economy to environmentally responsible business events organised in Luxembourg.

To obtain the logo for your event, you must fulfil various eco-responsibility and inclusivity criteria, determined jointly with the actors involved in the sector.

The coordinator of the project, Oekozenter Pafendall ASBL, offers you personalised support, regardless of the size of your event, with a view to assisting you in your efforts to promote sustainable event solutions.

Events that have obtained the logo are listed on the initiative's Green Business Events website.

Who is concerned

You can apply for the 'Green Business Events' logo if you are organising a business event and you are:

  • a business;
  • an association;
  • another entity (e.g. a tourist office).

Prerequisites

The logo is assigned to a specific event organised on a specific date. For recurrent (e.g. annual) events, a new logo application must be submitted for each edition.

The event must:

  • take place on the territory of Luxembourg; and
  • take the form of a conference, convention, exhibition, fair or show, business event or incentive.

Costs

Support and personalised counselling for the awarding of the logo are free of charge and paid for by the General Directorate for Tourism.

How to proceed

Filing an application

You must apply for the logo to the teams of the Oekozenter Pafendall ASBL at least 3 months before the date of the event.

Applications submitted after this deadline require the approval of the Ministry of the Economy.

Personalised support

The Oekozenter Pafendall offers individualised support to assist you in your initiative.

To obtain the logo, you must take part in a compulsory interview with the Oekozenter Pafendall team on the ecological management of your event

You must also submit the duly completed checklist together with the supporting documents (specified in the checklist) to the Oekozenter Pafendall.

How to obtain the logo

The criteria for obtaining the logo are listed in the Green Business Events checklist (see 'Online services and forms'). They are structured around 7 themes:

  • communication;
  • exhibition stands & furniture;
  • mobility;
  • sustainable catering;
  • waste;
  • water & energy;
  • accessibility & inclusivity.

To obtain the ‘Green Business Events’ logo, the event must meet:

  • all the mandatory criteria; and
  • 50 % of the optional criteria applying to the event.

If these conditions are met, you sign a charter of commitment, in which you undertake to respect the eco-responsible criteria for your event.

You will receive the logo in digital form for the event in question. The logo may be used on any communication medium before and during the event.

The General Directorate for Tourism reserves the right for the Oekozenter Pafendall to attend the event in order to check that the criteria are met. Failure to meet any of those criteria will entail the loss of the logo.

Feedback interview

After the event, the Oekozenter Pafendall team will contact you for a feedback interview.
