Structure of earnings survey

Last update

A survey on the structure of earnings (Structure of Earnings Survey - SES) 2022 is organised by the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques - STATEC).

STATEC is a state administration under the authority of the Ministry of Economy, which enjoys scientific and professional independence. Its mission is to collect, analyse and disseminate data on Luxembourg's economy and society in a neutral manner.

The survey provides valuable information on salaries in different sectors. Data is collected on individual earnings depending on:

  • the profiles of the employees;
  • the characteristics of their occupations; and
  • the profiles of their employers.

The Structure of Earnings Survey (SES) is conducted in all EU Member States every 4 years.

Who is concerned

The sample is drawn through a two-stage random sampling:

  • a random sample of companies is drawn, based on economic activity and size of the enterprise;
  • a random sample of employees is drawn within each selected company.

Prerequisites

In order to respond to the SES, the selected enterprise must first have received an invitation by post.
