Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can benefit from various types of state aid.

For instance, these can include investment aid for setting up a new business or diversifying production.

Other types of aid are specifically dedicated to a particular beneficiary or a particular project:

• aid for young businesses, to support them in their growth phase;
• aid for consultancy services, to enable the use of an external advisor for a specific project; or
• aid for first-time participation in a national trade fair, to cover the additional costs of renting, setting up and managing a stand.

With a few exceptions, the procedure for obtaining these aids always consists of the same steps:

• submission of an application accompanied by supporting documents;
• review of the application and decision by the Ministry of the Economy;
• implementation of the project by the business;
• application for payment of aid; and
• payment of the aid granted to the beneficiary.
