Making an appointment with the National Health Fund (CNS) online

Last update 02.06.2020

For security reasons, and in order to comply with social distancing measures at the National Health Fund (Caisse nationale de santé - CNS), it is now possible to make appointments with the various CNS agencies online via MyGuichet.lu.

The procedure can be done without using a LuxTrust authentication product.

Who is concerned

Anyone who wishes to make an appointment with the CNS:

  • a resident or non-resident;
  • who has or does not have a 13-digit national identification number (matricule).

The appointment can be made for:

  • the applicant themselves;
  • another person.

If a person does not have the material possibility to make an appointment, they can contact the CNS by phone so that a CNS agent can set up an appointment for them. The appointment confirmation can be sent to that person:

  • by email; or
  • by post. In the latter case, the appointment can only be scheduled for the 3rd day after the appointment request made by phone.

Costs

Booking an appointment online is free of charge.

How to proceed

Filing an application

The applicant must make an appointment online using MyGuichet.lu.

Consult the tutorial:

The applicant must indicate their contact details:

  • first and last names;
  • if applicable, their 13-digit Luxembourg identification number (matricule), otherwise, their date and place of birth;
  • email address and phone number;
  • address and country of residence.

If the applicant is not the patient for whom the appointment is being requested, then the applicant should state:

  • the patient's contact details:
    • their surname and first name(s);
    • if applicable, their 13-digit Luxembourg identification number (matricule), otherwise, their date and place of birth;
  • their relationship with the patient: spouse, child, parent, guardian;
  • the patient's address, if it differs from the applicant's.

Please note: if the appointment is made for any person other than the applicant's minor child, the patient must be personally present at the appointment.

Choice of agency and appointment

After having submitted their application, the applicant:

  • states the purpose of the appointment. If the appointment concerns a reimbursement by cheque, the applicant must provide additional information;
  • chooses the CNS agency where they wish to make an appointment;
  • chooses the date and time of their appointment among the proposed time slots.

Please note: some procedures do not require an appointment in an agency but can be done directly and more quickly online on the CNS website.

The administration's response

Once the request for an appointment has been validated, an appointment confirmation is sent to the applicant.

This document indicates:

  • the applicant's name;
  • the reason of the application;
  • the date, time and location of the appointment;
  • the appointment reference number.

The request for an appointment is analysed by a CNS agent. If the request is granted, the applicant receives an appointment confirmation. This confirmation:

  • includes the date, time and place of the appointment;
  • includes a QR Code that must be presented at the appointment.

The applicant can:

  • either print the document and scan the QR Code using the terminals at the entrance of the CNS agency on the day of the appointment;
  • or scan the QR Code directly on their mobile phone or tablet on the day of the appointment.

Please note: the appointment confirmation with the QR Code must be brought on the day of the appointment.

Cancellation of an appointment

Appointments can be cancelled:

  • either online using MyGuichet.lu;
  • via the link indicated on the appointment confirmation.

To cancel an appointment online, the applicant must indicate:

  • the appointment reference number;
  • their contact details: the national identification number or date and place of birth.
