Government Commissariat for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety
The Government Commissariat for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety is tasked with the following duties:
- coordinating and harmonising the monitoring and inspection of foodstuffs;
- serving as a point of contact for matters relating to:
- rapid alert and administrative collaboration systems;
- the single integrated multiannual national control plan;
- the Focal Point of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA);
- rapid alert and administrative collaboration systems;
- implementing the crisis management plan in the event of major food incidents;
- coordinating continuing training for inspection staff;
- coordinating the registers of businesses in the food sector;
- notifying citizens about unsafe foods placed on the market, and managing the food safety portal.
