Booking an appointment for the vision test 10 and the vision test 40

Last update

From 8 November 2021, parents and guardians who are Luxembourg residents and who have one or more children:

  • who are 10 months old; and/or
  • who are approximately 40 months old;

will receive a letter from the Ministry of Health and Social Security inviting them to make an appointment for free early vision screening of their child(ren) at one of the proposed sites.

The vision test is voluntary. It is carried out by a qualified orthoptist who:

  • checks the parallelism of the eyes;
  • controls the quality of binocular vision, that is, the functioning of both eyes together;
  • evaluates:
    • visual acuity, i.e. the ability to see a small object in the distance; and
    • refraction, i.e. a measurement of the eye to assess the possible need for an optical correction.
