You must have authorisation from the Ministry of Justice to purchase a firearm, to keep one at home or to use one for leisure purposes (hunting, target shooting).

Similarly, in order to travel with a firearm in the European Union (EU), you must first obtain a European Firearms Pass (EFP).

These authorisations as well as the EFP are valid for 5 years and can be renewed if you fulfil the necessary conditions.

You can now submit the following online via MyGuichet.lu:

• application for obtaining or renewing a firearms licence;
• application for the registration of a new firearm;
• application for obtaining, renewing or modifying an EFP.

These are procedures with authentication that require a LuxTrust product or an electronic identity card (eID). These procedures are also available on the MyGuichet.lu app.
