Applying for accreditation of prior experiential learning (VAE)
Sub-sections
The objective of accreditation of prior experiential learning (validation des acquis de l'expérience – VAE) is to draw on individuals' professional or extra-professional experience to enhance the value of the skills they have acquired in their lifetime.
The aim is to give individuals access to training qualifications, certificates, diplomas or credentials without needing to enrol in the courses that typically instil these skills.
Three types of accreditation of prior experiential learning may be requested, depending on the certificate, qualification or diploma sought:
- accreditation of prior experiential learning for the secondary technical education diplomas or the master craftsman's certificate, which should be requested from the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth (Ministère de l'Education nationale, de l'Enfance et de la Jeunesse);
- accreditation of prior experiential learning for a higher education diploma (Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, PhD, BTS) should be requested from the University of Luxembourg;
- accreditation of prior experiential learning for diplomas for evening classes should be requested from the Luxembourg Lifelong Learning Center.
