Several phishing attempts involving Guichet.lu are currently underway. Fraudulent emails and SMS messages featuring the logo of Guichet.lu are being sent out.

The scammers invent various scenarios in which they generally ask you to react as quickly as possible by claiming false facts. Below are some examples of the phishing attempts currently underway:

Example 1

Posing as the Grand Ducal Police, the scammers:

• notify you of a late payment of a fine for a traffic offence; and
• ask you, under threat of additional penalties, to pay the alleged fine online as quickly as possible.

Example 2

Posing as Guichet.lu, the scammers:

• claim that a calculation error has been detected in the computer system; and
• ask you to provide your information as quickly as possible in order to correct the error in your favour.

In this context, we would like to remind you that government institutions will never ask you to enter your personal details via a link sent by email or SMS, nor to make a payment in this way.

To protect yourself as much as possible against phishing attacks in general, please note the following recommendations:

• Do not click on any links, even if you are threatened with additional penalties, access restrictions or promised a refund.
• Be wary of messages that urge you to react quickly.
• Do not give out bank details, personal information or passwords.
