National Registry of Natural Persons
The National Registry of Natural Persons (Registre national des personnes physiques - RNPP):
- guarantees the unique and unequivocal nature of the national identification number (13-digit number) assigned to every natural person;
- groups all data relating to the identification of natural persons (residents or non-residents) who are in contact with a Luxembourg government administration department;
- retains a record of any updates to the personal data of a natural person;
- serves as the basis for the production of official documents, such as travel documents, identity documents, residence permits, driving licenses and other administrative documents.
The services and administrations that have access to this register no longer need, in principle, to require the citizen to supply certificates to attest to the accuracy of personal data.
