Joint works council

A joint works council must be formed by any company in the manufacturing, skilled crafts, or wholesale/retail trade sector established in Luxembourg and normally employing at least 150 salaried workers in the country for the past 3 years.

The joint works council is comprised of employee and employer representatives.

Its duties include:

  • introducing or amending measures relating to the health and safety of company employees, as well as the prevention of occupational illnesses;
  • drawing up or amending internal regulations or workshop regulations in accordance with collective agreements in force, where applicable;
  • drawing up or amending general criteria for the appraisal of staff, etc.
