Booking an appointment without a code

Until 15 September 2021, the government is offering Luxembourg residents the possibility to voluntarily undergo a free COVID-19 PCR test. The appointment can be made via

In case of a negative test, the person tested receives a CovidCheck Certificate which is valid for 72 hours in Luxembourg. This certificate is an EU Digital COVID Certificate (EU DCC).

This certificate allows citizens:

  • access to leisure activities: restaurants, cafés, cinemas, etc.;
  • the free and safe movement within the countries participating in the EU DCC system during the COVID-19 pandemic.

PCR tests will only be conducted on children aged 4 and over. No samples will be taken from children who do not meet these age criteria.

Note: this testing offer is in addition to the current Large Scale Testing already in place. A representative sample of the population will continue to be selected on a weekly basis and will be invited by mail or email to continue monitoring the health situation in the country. 

Who is concerned

Any person can be tested for COVID-19 if they:

  • reside in Luxembourg;
  • a 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (matricule); and
  • are aged 4 or above.


The person must have a 13-digit national identification number (matricule).


The procedure is free of charge.

How to proceed

Appointment booking

The applicant can make an appointment online using

Note: it is only possible to make one appointment at a time. The date of the appointment must be passed in order to make a new appointment.

People who are unable to make an appointment online can call the Health Hotline on (+352) 247-65533 from Monday to Sunday between 8.00 and 19.00. The Health Hotline team will be able to help them make an appointment.

When making the appointment on, the applicant must indicate the following:

  • their name and first name;
  • their 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number;
  • their email address;
  • their telephone number;
  • their address.

The applicant receives an appointment confirmation by email after transmitting the request.

The appointment confirmation must be presented in paper or electronic format at the appointment.

Cancelling and rescheduling an appointment

Persons who have already booked an appointment may cancel their appointment and book a new appointment.

To do so, they have to:

  • cancel the existing appointment by using the link in the PDF document attached to the confirmation email they received when the appointment was made;
  • after confirmation of the cancellation, make a new appointment.


Consulting the result in the private eSpace on

In case of a negative result of the COVID-19 PCR test, the person tested can consult the result online in their private eSpace on in the form of a CovidCheck Certificate. In Luxembourg, this certificate is valid for 72 hours.

In case of a positive result of the PCR COVID-19 test, the tested person can consult their result online in their private eSpace on in the form of a CovidCheck Certificate of recovery. In Luxembourg, this certificate is valid between the 11th and 180th day after the date of the positive PCR test.

It must be noted that results (negative or positive) are only made available in the form of a CovidCheck Certificate in the tested person's private eSpace if the laboratory transmits the national identification number (matricule) of the person tested when generating the certificate.

The CovidCheck Certificates available in the private eSpace on contain a secure QR code that allows to check the authenticity and validity of the certificates. This QR code can be scanned with:

  • the mobile application made available by the Luxembourg government; and
  • the equivalent applications from the different countries participating in this system:
    • the 27 EU Member States;
    • Iceland;
    • Liechtenstein;
    • Norway;
    • Switzerland.

The mobile app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

Notification by SMS

The tested person is informed of the result by SMS within 2 days from the test.

After entering the national identification number (matricule), a security code will be sent to the mobile phone number that the tested person provided at the time of booking the appointment online using This code is required to access the test result.

Contact tracing in the case of a positive test result

If the result is positive, the person tested will be contacted by the Contact Tracing Unit that will provide further support.

While waiting for a call from the Contact Tracing Unit, the person who tested positive can help trace and identify people with whom they have had high-risk contact.
