Mutual Guarantee Scheme for SMEs

The main activity of the Mutual Guarantee Scheme (Mutualité des P.M.E.) is to stand surety for investment loans and to provide guarantees to small and medium-sized businesses in order to support their development and their activities.

The Mutualité des P.M.E., the first mutual guarantee society in Luxembourg, was created in 1949 on the joint initiative of the Chamber of Skilled Trades and Crafts (Chambre des Métiers) and the Federation of Craftsmen (Fédération des Artisans). It operates as a cooperative society and, since its foundation, its role is to compensate for the financing problems encountered by offering small and medium-sized craft businesses its financial base as a surety to banks, other financial institutions and investors.
