The Ministry of Education, Children and Youth is responsible for the planning and administration of all education offered in Luxembourg (except for higher education, which is the responsibility of the Ministry for Research and Higher Education). To this end, each cycle or type of education is coordinated by a supervisory service placed under the Ministry.

The Ministry is also responsible for all aspects relating to early childhood and children's rights, recognition of diplomas (baccalaureates or maturas) or levels of foreign education, as well as vocational training.
