The European Economic Area (EEA) is an economic union comprising:

• the 28 member states of the European Union;
• and the member states of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) with the exception of the Swiss Confederation (CH).

The Swiss Confederation (CH) is associated with it by bilateral agreements.
