Appointment for a dose of messenger RNA vaccine following the single dose of Janssen® vaccine

Appointment booking

In order to optimise the protection of those vaccinated with the single-dose Janssen® vaccine (Johnson & Johnson), they have the option of receiving a dose of messenger RNA vaccine (BioNTech/Pfizer or Moderna) after a minimum interval of 4 weeks after receiving the single-dose Janssen® vaccine.

Reminder: in order for the fight against COVID-19 to be effective, it is important to respect the barrier gestures even if you have been vaccinated.

Who is concerned

Anyone who:

  • has a 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (matricule); and
  • has been vaccinated in Luxembourg with the single dose of Janssen® vaccine.

Prerequisites

In order to receive an invitation for the optimisation dose with a messenger RNA vaccine, vaccination with the single Janssen® dose must have taken place at least 4 weeks ago.

Appointments can only be made if the invitation letter with the code has been received.

Costs

The vaccination is free of charge.

How to proceed

Invitation to make an appointment

Invitations for the messenger RNA optimisation dose (BioNTech/Pfizer or Moderna) are sent by post in successive instalments to the persons concerned.

Persons who received an invitation will have the opportunity to undergo voluntary vaccination using the code received by post.

Booking an appointment via MyGuichet.lu

Anyone wishing to be vaccinated with the messenger RNA optimisation dose can make an appointment online using the form provided on MyGuichet.lu.

It is only possible to make an appointment for the vaccination if the invitation letter with the code has been received.

Those who cannot make an appointment online and want to be vaccinated at a vaccination centre can call the Health Hotline on (+352) 247-65533, which is operating:

  • Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 18.00; and
  • Saturday to Sunday between 10.00 and 18.00.

The Hotline team can assist callers with making an appointment, provided that they received the invitation letter containing the code.

Please note that if the person who wishes to be vaccinated presents one of the following health problems, they should contact their general practitioner before making an appointment for the vaccination:

  • cancer, leukaemia, HIV/AIDS infection or a significant reduction in immune defences;
  • other chronic diseases of the immune system (rheumatoid polyarthritis, Crohn's disease, psoriasis, other autoimmune diseases);
  • coagulation disorder or treatment with blood thinner medication (anticoagulants other than aspirin).

When making an appointment, applicants must provide the following:

  • the invitation code received by post;
  • their surnames and first names;
  • their 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (matricule);
  • their e-mail address and mobile phone number;
  • their weight and height;
  • if they have already been tested COVID-19 positive.

Next, the applicant selects:

  • the desired vaccination centre:
  • the date and time of their appointment among the proposed time slots.

Please note that the booking of the appointment must be validated by clicking on "Send".

The applicant receives an appointment confirmation by e-mail after transmitting the request.

This confirmation must be presented in paper or electronic format at the appointment.

Booking an appointment at one of the medical practices participating in the vaccination campaign

Anyone wishing to be vaccinated with the messenger RNA optimisation dose can make an appointment at one of the medical practices participating in the vaccination campaign.

It is only possible to make an appointment for the optimisation dose in a medical practice if the invitation letter with the code has been received.

To find out which medical practices are offering vaccination against COVID-19, you can consult the list of medical practices taking part in the vaccination campaign on the Government's portal on the coronavirus (COVID19.lu).

Good to know

People who do not have computer equipment to book an appointment, or who have questions regarding COVID-19 or the vaccination, can contact the Health Hotline at (+352) 247-65533, which operates:

  • Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 18.00; and
  • Saturday to Sunday between 10.00 and 18.00.
