Appointment booking

If no time slot is available for the desired date or testing centre, you can consult the availability schedule and book an appointment with another testing centre.

The Luxembourg government invites residents to participate voluntarily and free of charge in the COVID-19 serological test within the framework of its collaboration with the National Health Laboratory (LNS). The test consists of screening for COVID-19 antibodies on drops of dried blood, known as the "DBS test" (Dry Blood Spot).

The DBS serological test:

  • is performed by taking a few drops of blood from the fingertip;
  • allows to identify the presence or absence of anti-coronavirus antibodies in the blood of the person and to know if said person has already been in contact with the coronavirus in the past even without having had symptoms;
  • allows to know, in the case of a vaccinated person, if the vaccination has induced an immune response or not.

The DBS serological test is not to be confused with the COVID-19 PCR test.

At present, scientific knowledge does not allow us to determine the period during which the antibodies protect against a new contamination. A positive result of the serological test therefore does not guarantee lasting and systematic immunity.

A positive serological test which identifies the presence of coronavirus antibodies in the blood, does not justify a relaxation of social distancing and barrier gestures.

Even with a positive test, the person is still likely to be re-infected with COVID-19 and thus spread the virus.

The usefulness of the serological test lies in the fact that it is a complementary tool for epidemiological surveillance. The test allows to develop better knowledge about:

  • the virus;
  • the dynamics of virus transmission;
  • immune responses.

The results of the serological tests will also allow to monitor the effectiveness of the vaccination programme as it progresses. Thus, participation in serological testing helps professionals to better understand the evolution of the epidemic in the country.

Who is concerned

Dried blood drop testing concerns each:

  • resident; and
  • person that has a 13-digit national identification number (matricule).

Testing for COVID-19 antibodies on dried blood drops is only offered to persons aged 5 years and over.

Appointments can only be made if the invitation letter with the code has been received.

The code on the invitation received:

  • is valid for 3 weeks; and
  • is not renewable.

The validity date of the code is indicated in the invitation letter.

The serological test is free of charge.

How to proceed

Invitation to make an appointment

Invitations to participate in the serological screening are mailed by post to residents divided into representative groups.

The person receiving the invitation will then be given the possibility to receive all future invitations by email.

Each invitation includes a unique code that allows to book an appointment via

Appointment booking

Applicants can book an appointment online via the form provided on, from their private eSpace after logging in on, or by using a procedure without authentication.

People who do not have computer equipment to book an appointment, or who have questions regarding COVID-19 or vaccination, can contact the Health Hotline (Santé) at (+352) 247-65533 from:

  • Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 18.00; and
  • Saturday to Sunday between 10.00 and 18.00.

When booking the appointment on, the applicant must indicate the following:

  • the code on the invitation received by post;
  • their surname(s) and first name(s);
  • their 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number (matricule);
  • their email address and mobile phone number;
  • their address.

Next, the applicant chooses:

  • the testing centre to which they wish to go for the test. It must be noted that DBS testing cannot be performed at a drive-in testing centre. Thus, the applicant must plan time to park their car in order to arrive at the selected testing centre on time:
  • the date and time of their appointment among the proposed time slots.

It is essential that the day and time of the appointment are respected. If the appointment is not respected, the person cannot be tested and the appointment will not be rescheduled.

There is no need for fasting prior to the serological test.

Please note that the booking of the appointment must be validated by clicking on "Send".

In the case of a procedure without authentication, the applicant receives a confirmation of the appointment by email after transmission of the request.

In the case of a procedure with strong authentication, the confirmation of the appointment is sent directly to the applicant's private eSpace, under the "My messages" tab. The applicant also receives a notification of receipt of a new message in their private eSpace.

In any case, the appointment confirmation must be presented in paper or electronic form at the time of the appointment.

Cancelling and rescheduling an appointment

Persons who have already booked an appointment may cancel their appointment and book a new appointment.

To do so, they have to:

  • cancel the existing appointment by using the link in the confirmation email received when the appointment was made;
  • after the cancellation has been confirmed, a new appointment can be made with the code received in the original invitation.

A new appointment can only be made with the code received in the original invitation provided the code is still valid. The validity date of the code is indicated in the invitation letter.

The person tested receives:

  •  an SMS containing a link to access the test results online;
  •  if applicable, the same link by email.

The result of a serological test does not require any particular medical or sanitary action.

However, a positive serological test:

  • does not guarantee lasting and systematic immunity; and
  • does not justify a relaxation of social distancing and barrier gestures.

Even with a positive test, a person is likely to contract COVID-19 again and thus spread the virus.
