PCR COVID-19 test (throat swab) using the code provided in the invitation received by post or email

Last update 22.06.2021

For theAppointment booking

If no time slot is available for the desired date or testing centre, you can consult the availability schedule and book an appointment with another testing centre.

It is essential that the day and time of the appointment are respected. If the appointment is not respected, the person cannot be tested and the appointment will not be rescheduled.

The Luxembourg government invites residents and cross-border workers to participate voluntarily and free of charge in the COVID-19 testing within the framework of Large Scale Testing.

The PCR COVID-19 test by throat swab indicates whether the person being tested is contagious. Any person who gets tested and respects the recommendations of the Luxembourg Health Directorate (Direction de la santé) helps reduce the total number of infected people to a minimum. This is the best way to break the chains of infection and to efficiently trace the contacts of the people infected (contact tracing).

Children under the age of 4 will not be invited to a test in the context of the Large Scale Testing. PCR tests will only be conducted on children aged 4 or over. No samples will be taken from children who do not meet these age criteria.

Who is concerned

The COVID-19 tests (PCR) are for:

  • residents; and
  • cross-border workers.

Appointments can only be made if the invitation letter with the code has been received.

Costs

The COVID-19 test upon invitation by the Luxembourg government is free of charge.

How to proceed

Invitation to make an appointment

Invitations to participate in the Large Scale Testing are mailed by post to residents and cross-border workers divided into representative groups.

Persons who are the most exposed to the virus and who are in contact with numerous persons will be tested regularly.

Invitations to Large Scale Testing will also be sent by email.

In order to receive the invitation by email, applicants must confirm that they prefer to receive future invitations by email the next time they are booking an appointment via MyGuichet.lu.

Please note: it is currently not possible to register for the invitation by email if you have not received an invitation by post as the application needs to be made at the time of booking the appointment.
