New deadline to apply for the cost-of-living allowance for 2022

Low-income households may, under certain conditions, apply for a cost-of-living allowance from the National Solidarity Fund (FNS).

The deadline for submitting the application for the year 2022 is exceptionally extended until 31 October 2022, instead of the initial date of 30 September.

Applications submitted after 31 October 2022 will be rejected.

To be eligible for this allowance, the household's income must not exceed a certain threshold.

The amount of the cost-of-living allowance is determined on the basis of the applicant's household composition and varies between:

  • EUR 1.652 for a single person;
  • and EUR 3.304 for a household of 5 or more persons.

The amount of the energy allowance—between EUR 200 and EUR 400 depending on the composition of the household—is added to the amount of the cost-of-living allowance.

For more information on the condition of entitlement and how to apply, please consult our explanatory information page (also available in plain language).
