Each family that hosts a young au pair is committing to pay pocket money to the au pair. The amount of pocket money cannot be lower than 1/5th of the social minimum wage.
Since the increase of the minimum wage which was carried out retroactively from 1 January 2019, the social minimum wage is currently set at EUR 2,089.75. The minimum monthly amount to be paid to the young au pair is therefore set at EUR 418.
If your hosting agreement started in January 2019 or after, you are required to pay your au pair at least EUR 418 per month.
If the amount currently paid exceeds this minimum limit, no further changes apply.
