FAQ Brexit

The Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom has been applied provisionally since 1 January 2021.
The agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom protects the interests of European citizens as well as those of businesses based in the Union and will allow further cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Important changes have taken place since the entry into force of the new agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom has left the Union's single market and customs union and has withdrawn from all Union policies and international agreements. The EU and the UK will now constitute 2 separate markets and 2 separate legal and regulatory areas.
Following the finalisation of all the procedures necessary to ratify the Withdrawal Agreement, the UK had left the EU on 31 January 2020. Since 1 February 2020 a transition period has been in place until 31 December 2020.
More detailed information on citizens' rights after the withdrawal is available on this site.
