Luxembourg and Diekirch Bar
The profession of lawyer refers to a freelance, self-employed activity. All lawyers licensed to practise in the country belong to a professional association: the law society or Bar association. This legal entity is independent of the public authorities and judiciary. There is one law society in Luxembourg City and another in Diekirch. These 2 associations are independent of one another and each have legal capacity. The role of a lawyer is to provide advice in a legal matter or dispute, to assist or represent their clients in court, to defend their causes, to provide information about legal facts, and to draft contracts and negotiate transactions.
